Reiki has been well documented as being able to support people with many different types of chronic pain relief. In my previous blog called “Reiki and Chronic Pain” I looked at the range of ways that reiki has helped.
What is Arthritis?
Classified as a long term chronic pain, Arthritis currently has no cure, so many people look for ways to best manage their pain relief without relying solely on medication.
Arthritis is an inflammation of the joints which can affect just one joint or it can affect multiple joints. Although there have currently been over 100 different types of arthritis identified, the two the most common types are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis affects the joint’s cartilage which covers the ends of bones, causing the cartilage to break down and therefore not allow the joint to work properly. Rheumatoid arthritis, however, is an auto-immune disorder that initially affects the lining of joints.
Both types of arthritis can cause pain that can affect someone’s daily life, both in terms of pain and ability to move and grip.
How can Reiki help with Arthritis?
So how can reiki help with the management of arthritis pain? Firstly, as with all types of chronic pain, there are a number of life style changes that can work alongside the benefits of reiki, including dietary and nutritional changes, as well as exercise to keep your muscles strong and flexible.
Reiki can help by reducing the stress and anxiety pressures of managing long term pain, relaxing the body and so helping to reduce the pain felt in the affected joints. Each reiki session will help to build on the benefits and provide a positive factor in a client’s long term pain management.
Reiki helping arthritis – a testimonial
“I have had several Reiki treatments with Georgiana Monckton which I have found to be hugely beneficial to my health. In particular, she has treated my knee (after tearing my meniscus ligament), which greatly relieved the pain, as well as cramping in my foot, which hurt every time I walked. This has now completely gone away. Georgiana has also treated my wrists, where I suffer from arthritis, which has improved significantly.”
If you have arthritis and would like to have a chat or meeting about how reiki can help you with your long term pain management, then please give me a call on 07831 346607 and I will be delighted to help.
